Year 6 - 7 Transition Newsletter - 150721.pdf

We are delighted to be welcoming your child to the Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust (GFM). We look forward to working with you and your child and supporting you as we prepare for the transition from Primary to Secondary education where we want every pupil to be able to achieve their full potential.

The GFM are group of local schools (Bay House School and Sixth Form, Brune Park Community School, Gomer Junior School, Rowner Junior School and LWS Academy) that work together to champion the needs of Gosport and Fareham learners across all phases of education – Secondary, Primary and SEN. The GFM recognises the need to work in partnership with Hampshire County Council and all local schools to build better outcomes and opportunities for the young people of Gosport and Fareham. It is through our collective endeavour that we can make a difference, with Gosport and Fareham learners’ achievement being greater and aspiring them further. The local commitment to this initiative is overwhelming – schools and communities see this as an opportunity for a group of schools to become greater than the sum of their parts.

A welcome message from Mrs Arnold

Start of term 2021 - Lateral Flow Tests

Lateral Flow Tests - Thursday 2nd September

Please see email communication for details.

Start of term 2021- First day of school

First day of term - Friday 3rd September

The first day of term for year 7 is Friday 3rd September. Pupils are aware of their tutor groups and so when they arrive on the school site they will line up with their tutor at 8.45am. Please aim for them to arrive on site between 8.30am and 8.45am through the main entrances. Parents and carers are not able to come on site. We have a very experienced team on hand to support and guide pupils in the right direction. The first part of the day will be spent with their tutors for some settling activities including a tour and receiving their timetables. There will be 3 lessons during the day and then pupils will see their tutors again for the last lesson of the day which will also include their first year group assembly before they are dismissed at 15.10. Canteens will be open on the first day of term but it is also advisable to bring a packed lunch on this day. There are no PE lessons scheduled on Friday for year 7 and so pupils need to wear school uniform and bring their pencil cases and water bottles. Year 7 will be the only main school year group in school on this day.

Please note, we will contact you via the email address you have provided on your initial application to Hampshire County Council to keep you updated with important information regarding the transition programme unless you have informed us of any change. Based on the current situation, all arrangements may be subject to change so please do check your emails regularly for updates.
